Information about Electrolysis

During the Consultation
We will explain the treatment procedure, all the parts of the hair, the follicle, and hair cycling. We will evaluate the treatment area and tell you exactly how much time must be spent in each treatment area to achieve permanent results. You will have an excellent understanding of the process and all of your questions can be answered throughout your consultation and treatment. Electrolysis is a process and we feel that the education of hair cycling is very important, even if you have had prior electrolysis treatments at another location.
The Treatment Procedure
I will stretch the skin slightly so that the mouth of the follicle opens. A very fine, sterile, insulated probe is inserted along side the hair. You will not feel the insertion. When the end of the probe is aligned with the germative portion of the hair, a tiny amount of heat is emitted. This heat dehydrates the bulb and cauterizes the blood supply that feeds the hair. The hair is lifted out of the follicle and you are left with a nice clean follicle that can not produce a hair. Each hair is treated one time only.
After Treatment
Following electrolysis, the skin in the treatment area will be slightly red and swollen for a few minutes to a few hours depending on your body's histaminic reaction. Most individuals see a small amount of surface swelling and redness that will dissipate shortly. I use an insulated probe that protects the top layer of skin and the follicle. Only the base of the hair follicle is treated. There will be no scarring or regrowth with this method. Post treatment recommendations are as follows: Keep the skin clean and allow the topical agent to absorb into the skin. Apply warm compresses to the area for a few minutes after treatment. Your skin will be soft, smooth and hair free!
